Nashville Music Medics Divide and Conquer to Honor Our Nation’s Veterans
The Nashville Music Medics divided and conquered on November 11th, Veterans Day, in order to honor our Nation’s veterans. Seven Medics came to Mt. Juliet to honor our vets at the Rutland Place Assisted Living Facility, as part of theVeteran’s Day celebration sponsored by the Cecilia Bradford Carroll Chapter of the DAR. Sam English(USMC) and Dave Mensel (Army) were the two veterans that participated with us in Mt. Juliet. Honoring America were two other Medics veterans, Paul Wietlisbach (Navy, Air Force) and Tom Holshauser (Army), as they participated in Veteran Day celebrations in Hohenwald, TN.

What a day and celebration we had at Rutland Place in Mt. Juliet. We were warmly greeted not only by our hostess Julie Schultz when we arrived, but also by an enthusiastic crowd of residents, veterans, and DAR sisters. After being introduced by Julie, the Medics opened their program with a rousing rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, followed by God Bless America and finishing our patriotic portion of our program with America the Beautiful. Everyone was invited to sing along.
We continued with our story about the Medics, by singing our signature song, “You’ve Got a Friend,” followed, of course, by our now famous “Name Song,” where Julie was serenaded by all of the Medics. She was surprised to say the least. We noted there was a rather distinguished looking gentleman in full uniform of the Coast Guard. We watched in amazement as he stood ramrod straight, in a well pressed uniform, to sing the Star Spangled Banner. He looked as if he just stepped right out of the Coast Guard Academy.
Our boys in the south heading towards Hohenwald had a slight mix up with their meeting place but still managed to arrive in time to sing for those in attendance at the celebration. Their event went off without a hitch and of course our guys honored America quite well. We only wish the rest of us could have been there to support their efforts.
What an honor for us as not only Americans, but as Nashville Music Medics, to be thought of highly enough to be able to bring honor to our veterans from foreign wars. We look forward to being able to celebrate all of those who defended our country when we see them during the Holiday Season.
