Nashville Music Medics Sing With Our Heroes!
What a visit we had on September 19 at the VA Hospital Residential Unit in Murfreesboro, TN. As we had gathered to get the voices prepared we were warmly greeted by a staff member who had been attending to patients in a far corner of our warm-up area. While visiting with her we discovered her name was “Beautiful”. Yes, that was what her name badge said! We have sung our “Name Song” to many over the years but had never met a “Beautiful” and we would not pass this opportunity! Much to our surprise “Beautiful” was quite the appreciative dancer as we entertained her and one of our singers was able to capture some of her joyful antics.
We were then met and escorted by our new friend Maribel Bracke. Since this was her first time with us, she was also given royal treatment with the singing of “The Name Song” which was coincidentally quite familiar to “The Beautiful Song”. When Maribel heard her name in “The Name Song” there was indeed some anticipated blushing. Of course, nothing really compares to the joy we felt when singing to our heroes proudly displaying their respective branches of service. They were a rousing bunch this visit, with singing along and really enjoying themselves by taking part in the festivities. What a great bunch of men and women we get a chance to honor. After finishing, we walked around and greeted everyone. Smiles on everyone’s faces. We’re so blessed to be able to serve these men and women, and are really excited to be returning in December for our Christmas Concert.
