Nashville Music Medics Under Attack by Toy Monsters!
We just never know what will happen when the Nashville Music Medics arrive for our visit at Tri-Star Centennial Children’s Hospital; September 10th was no exception. We sang for three rambunctious little ladies. The first was Kaylie, who wanted to come along with us after we finished. We heard her say “where are they going. They need to come back here.”
The 2nd little girl, Lilly, was the highlight of the day. She was seated on her bed playing with her toys and when we started to sing she decided to have us join in her play. She started by handing us the quills to her toy porcupine and after several minutes of our waving them around while we sang, we returned them to her.
Obviously this was not what she wanted because now she started tossing the quills at us, and when that didn’t work she reached for some wooden toys! We thought - " Uh-Oh, time to make a hasty escape!" - while still trying to sing! Mom managed to calm her down and we finished our song and bid them good-bye! Our third little lady was 12-year old London who was the exact polar opposite of Lilly. She was so shy that she sat on the couch next to her parents, and kept her head down. We did manage to see a great smile once we started singing our Name Song to her. We even tried some of my Dad Jokes, to no avail. She did manage to to smile and say she like our singing as we left. We ended our day with our customary visit to ALIVE Hospice, where our stalwart bass, Bill Munn, was moved to tears as we left the room of the last patient; a niece at the bedside of the lady we visited was brought to tears and told us this was the best “concert” she had ever been to! Another fulfilling day of song! By Wayne Jackson, for Nashville Music Medics
