This is Ed after ringing that final bass “only you” of Heart of My Heart with Not Good Enough quartet in Franklin, TN
And now “The rest of the story”
On May 20th, Tuesday, about 11:00 am, No Green Bananas quartet received an email from Ed’s daughter, Mary, in Central Florida: “Are you available this coming Sunday, May 25th at around 11:15 ish in the morning to help my father celebrate his 90th birthday?” [This is Memorial Day weekend. There is a Barbershop Harmony Society Un-Convention in Nashville on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The requested date is five (5) days away. I thought to myself, “We’ve got to make this work!” especially after learning that Edgar had sung with the Hurricane Harmonizers for over twenty years AND is the last surviving member of his quartet, Cameo, out of Boca Raton, Florida.
I immediately contacted my singers in No Green Bananas and learned our tenor, Chuck, is out of town for the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. Our lead, Doug, is unavailable due to a prior commitment for community Holiday event. And our bass, Bill, is competing in that BHS Un-Convention in Nashville. And no one ever wants to hear baritone solos!
“We’ve got to make this work; we’ve got to find a way to meet and greet Edgar with some chordial barbershop harmony”
Ahh-Ha. Nashville Music Medics just may be the solution!
By Wednesday afternoon we were ready to meet Ed and the family on Sunday. Not Good Enough quartet is made up of various quartet singers for special requests to Nashville MusicMedics. I have corralled Kirk to sing lead, Erik on tenor and Bill on bass; both Erik and Bill are joining us from the Un-Convention. I already had a dependable and Good Enough baritone!

Not Good Enough presented Ed with a 5 song set including a Happy Birthday version of “Honey-Little Lize” and “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”. Ed joined us, filling in the bass, for “Heart of My Heart”, and we could hear him adding additional bass to “Sitting on Top of the World”. Of course, “Keep the Whole World Singing” provided the heartfelt message.
We had fun.
Ed had fun.
Ed’s family had fun.
The returns are immeasureable.
